MINIMIZING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

NorthIsle Copper is committed to minimizing the impact on and conserving the quality of the natural environments in areas where we operate. We recognize that the long-term sustainability and success of our business is dependent upon good stewardship in both the protection of the environment and the efficient management of the exploration and extraction of mineral resources.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PROMISE

  • Establish and maintain management systems to identify, monitor, eliminate and/or mitigate the environmental impacts of its activities;
  • Apply a proactive risk-management approach to safeguard and protect the environment;
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental legislation and regulations, and relevant industry guidelines;
  • Foster an environmentally responsible culture and encourage workforce behaviours that promote environmental and social stewardship;
  • Encourage open dialogue and maintain processes for receiving and responding to stakeholder concerns with respect to the Corporation’s environmental commitments;
  • Minimize its use of water, control and manage its impact on water quality and protect local water resources;
  • Use energy and other natural resources as efficiently as possible;
  • Allocate sufficient resources to ensure environmental risks are adequately addressed during all phases (exploration, design, construction and closure) of each project;
  • Be prepared to effectively respond to emergencies that involve hazardous substances;
  • Strive for the highest quality of waste management;
  • Conserve biodiversity, protect flora and fauna, and aim for zero net negative impact;
  • Ensure that all tailings storage facilities are located, designed, constructed, operated and closed in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and in alignment with best industry practices;
  • Transport, store and use cyanide and other reagents responsibly and in compliance with the International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC);
  • and Monitor, assess and audit its operations to ensure continuous improvement of its environmental performance.

Directors, officers, employees and contractors as well as visitors to site are expected to adhere to the commitments set out in this Policy.
